Chitradurga ZP president expresses ire against officials

Chitradurga Zilla Panchayat president Soubhagya Basavarajan has expressed ire against the officials of different banks in the district for not providing loans to eligible youths for taking up self-employment under different government schemes.

Expressing concern over the issue at a Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) monthly review meeting at the zilla panchayat here on Tuesday, she added that the Union and State governments have launched several schemes to ensure that unemployed youth became self-reliant by starting their own firms with financial assistance under different schemes from banks. But the bank officials are not ready to release funds to eligible youths even after they submitted all necessary documents for loans.

If such a situation prevails, the government schemes would fail and it would also lead to increase in unemployment. “The bank officials should understand the condition of the youths and release loans to eligible candidates and also provide them guidelines for maintaining good financial record,” she added.

Owing to the failure of bank officials to provide financial assistance, youths in the district are going to other major cities in search of livelihood. The officers concerned should take up the issue seriously and rectify the shortcomings, she said.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.N. Ravindra said that the issue would be taken up at the district bankers meeting scheduled on December 17.

He also instructed the officers concerned to create awareness about Mahamta Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act to ensure more and more jobs to eligible card holders.
