Aiming to ease the process of marriage registration under the Hindu Marriage Act and to make it transparent, Uttar Pradesh has started a pilot project in Barabanki district to register marriages online, an official said on Monday.

Under this initiative taken by the Stamp and Registration Department, Mehtaab Singh and Rameshwari Devi became the first couple to register their marriage online at the Sadar sub-registrar office in Barabanki.

“Online Hindu marriage registration facility will be available in the entire State after examining the process for 10 days,” Inspector-General (Registration) Ashish Goyal said.
