Two militants killed in Kashmir gunfight

Two militants and a soldier were killed on Monday evening in a gunfight in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Militants and security forces exchanged fire till late Monday evening as an encounter broke out in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, where two militants are suspected to be holed up in a house.

Preliminary reports suggest the police and the army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles are engaged in the gunfight in Pulwama's Drabgam village, more than 35 km south of Srinagar. The encounter started on Monday afternoon. A police official said both the militants were killed. Two AK-47 Rifles were also recovered. An army jawan was also killed repetedly. However, the army has not confirmed any casualty.

The slain militants were identified as Afaq-Ullah Bhat, a resident of Karimabad, Pulwama, and Abdul Manan, a resideng of Amarbugh, Shopian. He was active since May this year.
