June 24, 2015 12:40 am | Updated 02:41 pm IST - Latehar (Jharkhand):

The Palamau Express derailed on Tuesday after suspected Maoists blew up a stretch of tracks in Latehar district.

The engine and three coaches of the train going from Barkakana to Patna jumped the rails following the blast, Chhipadohar railway stationmaster R.P. Bhagotia said. There were no casualties, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Palamau Range) Saket Kumar Singh said.

The stationmaster said the blast occurred around 8 p.m. near Kuchila between Chhipadohar and Barwadih stations. The CPI (Maoist) is observing a 24-hour bandh on Tuesday in Bihar and Jharkhand to protest the gunning down of their cadres in Palamau district on June 9.
