Take a conscious call, desert BJP in Goa: Congress

Stepping up its campaign against the BJP-led government, the Goa unit of the Congress on Tuesday appealed to ruling coalition allies to take a conscientious call in the interest of Goa and desert the BJP.

Addressing the media at the party’s State headquarters here, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Yatish Naik said, “BJP is a chaotic party. But it has no right to make Goa’s administration chaotic. The BJP allies should take a conscientious decision to desert a ‘leaderless’ BJP in the interest of Goa.’’

“One ally has Gomantak (another name for Goa in Marathi) in its name (Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party), while the other has Goa (Goa Forward Party). Therefore, they must think about their Goa if they have any interest of the State in their hearts,’’ he said.

Reiterating that BJP had become ‘leaderless’ following Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s continued absence from administration, Mr Naik said, “They (BJP) are not even able to decide who could be an active Chief Minister, they are unable to decide who can be number two in the absence of Chief Minister. They are unable to decide how this government can function.’’

“We therefore appeal to the allies of the ruling coalition to take a conscientious decision to desert this BJP which is ruining our Goa,’’ he said.

He pointed out that Chief Minister Parrikar has not been seen in the State Secretariat since he fell ill and there was no regular meeting of the State Cabinet even though it was claimed that health of the Chief Minister was improving.

The Congress also reiterated its demand for a medical bulletin on the CM’s health.

Mr. Naik lamented that their party’s repeated pleas to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha to issue a medical bulletin had fallen on deaf ears.
