Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday dismissed the suggestions that a Dalit be made the Chief Minister.

“I am the Chief Minister and I will complete my term,” he said.

Speaking to presspersons on his arrival at Mangaluru International Airport here, Mr. Siddaramaiah was responding to a question on news reports about the need for a Dalit Chief Minister. While Minister for Revenue V. Srinivas Prasad had suggested that a Dalit should become the Chief Minister, Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya had said that Mr. Prasad’s suggestion was for the next term; and Mr. Sidaramaiah would complete his term. Both the Ministers are Dalits.
