The Punjab Government is set to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai this month.

The anniversary celebrations of ‘Punjab Kesari’ would commence from his native village, Dhudike, in Moga district where a State-level function would be organised, an official spokesman said here.

However, the dates are yet to be finalised, he added.

The government has constituted a State-level committee headed by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to chalk out blueprints for the celebrations.

He said the committee would also devise a strategy to observe the 100th birthday anniversary of legendary playwright Bhisham Sahni.

A function is slated to be organised at Khalsa College, Amritsar in the November this year, as part of the celebrations, he said. - PTI
