The Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Roopnagar, Amarjit Singh Sandoa, joined the Congress here on Saturday. Earlier Nazar Singh Manshahia, the AAP MLA from Mansa, had joined the Congress on April 29.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said the Congress had got a major boost as a result of the wave of exodus from members of various opposition parties in the State — a clear endorsement, he claimed, of his government’s path-breaking initiatives in the last two years.
“AAP national president Arvind Kejriwal’s autocratic style of functioning and the chaos in the State wing of the party was making its legislators feel suffocated, motivating them to shift to the Congress, which was completely focused on development of the State and welfare of its people,” said the Chief Minister.
Capt. Amarinder said the mood in the State was clearly in favour of the Congress and its ‘Mission 13’, aimed at a complete sweep of the parliamentary seats in Punjab for the party.
