Pulwama attack pre-planned, precautions not taken: Sharad Pawar

‘Heavy security breached’

Calling the Pulwama terror attack on Indian forces pre-planned, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar on Friday said that its pattern shows that the precaution that should have been taken at that time was not in place.

“This terror attack was orchestrated in a manner in which it breached heavy security and despite the fact that armed vehicles were in the convoy. It proves that the attack was pre-planned,” Mr. Pawar said.

He said that after the attack there was shooting from terrorists which means that they were hiding. “This also indicates that cautionary measures were not in place,” Mr. Pawar said.

Maharashtra Congress president Ashok Chavan said that in this hour of grief, he wouldn’t prefer to make any critical remarks. “We stand together today. Even though our parties are different, this is an issue of national security and pride. We stand with the government at this hour. It is important that our security forces give a befitting reply to terrorists,” he said.

Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam said that all terror organisations in Pakistan should be destroyed. “Our president Rahul Gandhi has said that we stand with our soldiers and government and the action it takes. The terrorists will have to pay for their sins,” he said.
