Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh on Wednesday directed Rajasthan University to print all pending 20 lakh degrees by May 31.
Chairing a review meeting of a committee set up to oversee the progress of printing of degrees by Rajasthan University, Mr Singh also asked the authorities to fill all vacant posts at the earliest.
Taking a serious view of the pendency of degrees to student, the Governor has decided not to accept any invitations for convocation of state-funded universities of which he also happens to be the Chancellor.
Mr Singh instructed Rajasthan University authorities to take up the issue of printing degrees on a priority and ensure that at least one lakh degrees are printed each day so that the work is completed by May 31.
Rajasthan University has a backlog of 20 lakh degrees while at least seven other major universities also have a huge pendency.
There are 26 state universities in Rajasthan.
