At least 5,92,281 students would appear for the State matriculation examination (Class X) this year in Odisha, which is about 8,000 less than the number of students that appeared last year. The examination this year would begin on February 23 and continue till March 10, sources said adding that evaluation of answer sheets would begin from March 16. The results are likely to be published in the last week of April.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday, the Board of Secondary Education president D. P. Nanda informed that the examinations would be held in 2,799 centres across the State. For the safety of question papers, the Board has set up 302 nodal centres where the questions would be stored under police protection round-the-clock.
While 5,63,934 students would appear for the examination in Regular stream, 14,320 would appear in Ex-Regular (new), 9,620 in Ex-Regular (old) and 4,417 would appear in Sanskrit (Madhyama) stream, Mr. Nanda informed.
