One militant killed in Baramulla encounter

One militant was killed and one of their soldiers injured in a fire-fight on Friday in Booniyar border area in Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, the Army has said.

"The encounter began at about 8.30 a.m in the morning and is still on. According to our current information, one of the militants has been killed while one of our soldiers has a minor injury," Army spokesperson Lt. Col NN Joshi said. 

Army officials said that they had information about the presence of three militants in the area and a gunfight ensued after their forces cordoned the house where the suspected militants were present. According to the Army, two of the militants were still alive and fighting. 

The body of the slain militant has not been recovered yet.
