The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday arrested a person in Gorakhpur district for posting an “objectionable post” on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

This is the fourth such arrest in the State in the last three days.

While the police did not reveal the name of the arrested person, they said he was accused of “maligning the image” of Mr. Adityanath through an “objectionable post” on Twitter.

The police said they acted on a complaint received through Twitter, and on the instructions of the SSP, Gorakhpur, made the arrest.

The police have recovered the mobile used to make the post.

Sources said the arrested man was Peer Mohammad of Goli area of Gorakhpur. He has been apparently booked under Sections 503 and 505 of the IPC and Sections 65 and 67 of the IT Act. The police, however, are yet to release any information officially.

A case had been registered against another person in Gorakhpur, Dharmendra Bharti, for a similar alleged offence.
