There has ‘not been a single riot’ in Uttar Pradesh in the 2.5 years since the BJP government came to power, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed on Thursday.

Agra communal flare-up

Incidentally, Mr. Adityanath's assertion came a day after a communal flare-up was reported in Semra village in Agra after a girl was allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday by a boy from another community. A few shops of the minority community were also burnt down in the incident. About 200 unidentified persons have been booked for rioting, wrongful assembly and promotion of disharmony, a police officer said.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Adityanath produced a report card of his government’s achievements in the first 30 months of its tenure. He said the BJP government had vastly improved the law and order in the State and that since 2017 March all festivals were celebrated in a peaceful manner.
