Criticising Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parlekar for his statement that Mumbai designer Isha Mantry died due to excessive consumption of alcohol, Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) on Friday demanded judicial probe into the case.
Talking to presspersons here, NCP chief spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said that when the investigating authorities have reserved the cause of death by referring viscera of the deceased for forensic analysis, the Minister making statement on her death amounts to interfering in the investigations.
The Mumbai-based costume designer died after attending an electronic dance music (EDM) at Candolim on Monday night in north coastal belt. The opposition parties insist that the death was due to overdose of drugs at the EDM.
He reiterated his contention that drugs were at full play at the music festivals and lambasted local Calangute MLA Michael Lobo for saying EDM festivals were free from drugs.
Mr. D’Mello appealed to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to make a statement over the issue in his capacity as Home Minister.
