M.P. govt. shedding crocodile tears on farmers’ woes: Cong.

October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:25 am IST - Bhopal:

The Congress here on Tuesday accused the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh of adopting double standards on the issue of agrarian crisis in the State.

“Ministers and officers are being sent to villages to inspect the loss to the crop due to scanty rainfall and console the farmers. These people are putting up in luxurious hotels and economically burdening the government,” Congress Legislative Party leader Satyadev Katare told reporters here.

“On the other hand, the farmers in distress are being hounded to clear their fat electricity dues. The condition of farmers is so worrisome that they are committing suicide,” he said.

The government is shedding “crocodile tears” on the issues of farmers, Mr. Katare alleged.

He said the government should immediately redress the problems of the farmers and launch measures to stop them from committing suicide. - PTI
