Motivational speaker Vivek Bindra booked for assaulting his wife

A case has been filed against entrepreneur and motivational speaker Vivek Bindra for allegedly assaulting his wife, the Noida police said on Saturday.

According to an officer, a complaint was lodged on December 14 by Mr. Bindra’s wife, Yanika, and his brother-in-law Vaibhav Kwatra, about the incident which allegedly took place on December 7.

The allegations are being investigated and appropriate action will be taken after sufficient evidence is collected, the officer said, adding that the couple had got married on December 6.

No response was issued by Mr. Bindra about the allegations.

A video of the alleged incident surfaced on social media, in which the accused is seen tightly grabbing the woman’s hand outside an apartment complex as she tries to free herself.

A resident of Sector 94, Noida, Mr. Bindra is famous for uploading motivational videos on YouTube.

According to Mr. Kwatra, Mr. Bindra assaulted his Ms. Yanika while he was arguing with his mother and she tried to intervene.

“My brother-in-law locked himself in a room with my sister, abused her, and beat her up,” Mr. Kwatra alleged, adding that the accused also smashed his sister’s mobile phone.

“She received serious injuries and is being treated at Kailash Deepak Hospital in Delhi,” Mr. Kwatra said.

“We have launched an investigation into the case to ascertain the facts. Necessary action will be taken accordingly,” a senior police officer said.

A case has been registered under IPC Sections 323 (causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 427 (mischief) and 504 (insult to provoke breach of peace), the police said.
