Moderate quake in Assam's Kokrajhar

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale was recorded in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Wednesday.

The earthquake occurred at 10:20 am with its focus 10 km below the ground at Sapatgram in Kokrajhar district of Assam, said Sanjay Shaw, Director, Regional Meteorology Centre, Guwahati.

Tremors were also felt in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Daga in Bhutan.

Minor cracks have been reported in a few buildings in western Assam's Chirang district. No casualty has been reported so far.

Tremors in Ladakh region

A light earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred at 5:15 this morning in Ladakh region, an official of the disaster management department told PTI .

He said the quake occured at a depth of 174 km with its epicentre at Latitude of 35.6 degree North and Longitude of 76.3 degree East, located 199 kms north of Kargil town in Jammu and Kashmir.
