Minister’s wife uses proxy to write exam

A proxy candidate, who was appearing in an exam in place of Chhattisgarh Education Minister Kedar Kashyap’s wife Shanti Kashyap, was apprehended by the exam authorities of Pt.Sundarlal Sharma Open University in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

“The final paper of M.A. English part 2 exam was on at a centre in Lohandiguda block of Bastar today. We observed that someone else was appearing in place of Shanti Kashyap. When we asked the lady about her identity, she collected her hall ticket and ran away,” Hemram Kharpade, the exam centre chief of the University at Lohandiguda centre told The Hindu .

The vice-chancellor of the university Bansh Gopal Singh confirmed the incident and said he had ordered an inquiry. “When the exam authorities tried to click the photo of the candidate, she fled. However, our people did manage to click some photos. Strict action will be taken against the candidate irrespective of her background,” said the VC.

Mr. Kedar Kashyap, an MLA from Narayapur district of Chhattisgarh, also holds the Tribal Welfare department apart from the education portfolio.
