Mayor orders inquiry into Asim Khan case

October 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - NEW DELHI:

North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta has ordered a vigilance inquiry to identify if any North Delhi Municipal Corporation officer was involved in the graft case in which AAP legislator Asim Khan faces allegations of seeking a bribe from a builder.

Mr. Gupta has directed the NDMC’s Vigilance Department to probe the role of any of the civic body’s officials in the case, if any. He said that the Corporation gets more than 50 percent of its employees from the Delhi government. In a statement, he said that the Corporation always demands honest officials with integrity.

The statement also said that Deputy Commissioner (City Zone) A. Nedunchezhiyan was repatriated.

The Mayor said that if any NDMC official is found to be involved the case, strict and appropriate action would be taken against him or her.

“From fake degrees to domestic violence, Ministers of the Delhi government are involved in controversy and crime cases. And now this corruption case. It is just the tip of an iceberg,” Mr. Gupta said.
