Suspected Left wing extremists have killed one of the two abducted villagers in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

Body of Dambaru Sagadia, one of two abducted villagers, was found with throat slit near the Kansariputa Chhak in the southern Odisha district on Monday. Other abducted villager, Sina Madhi was said to have escaped from the clutches of Maoists.

“Maoist rebels who have been on the back-foot have killed 13 civilians this year. In the latest instance, they killed one of the abducted villagers stating that he was working against the interest of tribals,” said Mitrabhanu Mohapatra, Malkanagiri Superintendent of Police.

Mr. Mohapatra said Maoist posters were seized from near the body. The police have started combing operations in areas where extremists were likely to be hiding.

On Friday night, about 15-20 armed rebels had stormed into Mundaguda village and taken away Sina Madhi and Dambaru Sagadia.
