Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar could travel overseas for further treatment on doctors' advice, a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said on Monday.
“Today Chief Minister is travelling to Mumbai for further medical check-up and based on doctor's advice may travel overseas for further treatment,” the statement by his Personal Secretary Rupesh Kamat said.
Sources close to Mr. Parrikar indicated on Monday that his family is already in touch with a health facility in the United States, where he will proceed to, after a brief spell of treatment in Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital.
On February 15, Mr. Parrikar was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where, according to the CMO, he was diagnosed for “mild pancreatitis.”
Brief speech on February 22
A frail-looking Mr. Parrikar returned to Goa on February 22 to table the State’s annual budget for 2018-19 and a vote-on-account for five months of the upcoming financial year. He made a brief speech saying he would present his fullfledged budget later.
Within next two days, Mr. Parrikar was admitted to the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital near Panaji after he complained of dehydration and low blood pressure, according to an official statement. He was discharged from the hospital on March 1 and has been recuperating at his residence at Dona Paula.
