The Bombay High Court is expected to pass judgement on the bail application filed by Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts, on March 3.
“The honourable court had reserved its order a few days ago. We expect the judgement to be passed on March 3,” advocate Ganesh Sovani told The Hindu.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which concluded its arguments over a week back, had opposed the bail application. Sadhvi Pragya had pleaded that she be granted bail on medical grounds, as she is suffering from many ailments, and is bed-ridden.
The High Court had asked NIA to produce material evidence against her. It had observed that it was not inclined to curtail the rights of the prisoner. After NIA told the court about the call data records and the
ownership of the vehicle used in the blast being traced to her, Sadhvi Pragya's counsel argued that the agency did not have any conclusive evidence against her.
She had claimed that she did not participate in the planning or commission of the blasts in any manner.
