Twelve Maoists killed in Jharkhand encounter

Twelve Maoists were on Tuesday killed in an encounter with the police in Palamau district, Jharkhand.

“The encounter took place in Bakoria village, about 140 km from Ranchi. All the bodies have been recovered,” Superintendent of Police Mayur Patel said.

Additional Director General of Police (Operation) S.N. Pradhan said the encounter took place around 1 a.m.

The Maoists were moving in two vehicles. While one vehicle sped away, the naxalites in other vehicle got down and opened fire at the police, Mr. Pradhan said.

Eight weapons were recovered from the spot.
