Info on Punjab villages on the Net now

Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Sunday said information of all 13,040 villages in the State has been uploaded on the official website of the Punjab government.

Punjab has become the first State to put data of all its 13,040 villages on its official website, Mr. Maluka claimed.

Functioning of Gram Panchayats in Punjab has been strengthened through computerisation under e-panchayats scheme, he said.

It will provide details of famous personalities, popular and historical places of a particular village, latest data of Gram Panchayats and mapped villages, distance of village from main cities and main roads, schools, colleges, hospitals, community centres and centre and state sponsored schemes going on in villages, he said. - PTI
