In a crime similar to the December 16 incident in New Delhi, a 37-year-old widow was raped and her male colleague stripped and beaten up by two persons here on Tuesday night.
A police official said the two were in a vehicle, talking, when the assailants came on a two-wheeler and threatened the woman’s colleague with a knife. The duo then stripped him and beat him up. One of the attackers tied the woman’s hands and legs with her sari before both took turns to rape her.
“In the morning [on Wednesday], people heard the cries of the woman and informed us. We took her to the police station. She said the rapists were aged 25-30,” the police said. Her colleague was brought to the station in an unconscious condition and both were admitted to the Mehsana Civil Hospital.
