At least five die in landslides in J&K’s Kathua

Bodies of two persons have been retrieved and the other missing are being traced

Five people have died in separate incidents of landslides triggered by fresh spell of rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir on July 19.

Police officials said two houses collapsed in Kathua’s Bani. “Five persons including children got buried under these houses,” said a police officer.

Bodies of two persons have been retrieved and the other missing are being traced.  

In three separate incidents, a woman, a student, and a man were killed after they got buried under landslides in Kathua’s Bani.

Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 4,900 pilgrims on their way to the Amarnath shrine in Kashmir has been halted at Yatri Niwas Chanderkote in Ramban due to shooting stones and landslides.
