Two teachers, including the headmaster, of Ballavnayak High School at P. Nuagaon under Kodala police station in Ganjam district of Odisha were arrested by the State Vigilance department on Saturday afternoon while they were accepting Rs.500 as bribe to issue School Leaving Certificate and mark sheet to a student.

Mother of this student, who had passed secondary school board examination this year from this school, had complained to the Berhampur vigilance division. Basing on the complaint, a trap had been set by vigilance sleuths on Saturday. According to the vigilance officials, headmaster Trinath Nayak and Hindi teacher Bhagabat Mohanty were in the former’s room. They demanded and accepted the marked bribe money from the complainant. Later this cash was seized from the two accused and a chemical test of their palms proved that they had accepted it. Both were arrested. Raids were also conducted at their residences for further evidences.
