October 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:01 am IST - CHANDIGARH:

The Haryana government on Monday announced setting up of two Regional Forensic Science Laboratories in the state.

One of the laboratories will be operational at Bhondsi in Gurgaon, while the other one will come up at Sunaria in Rohtak district, an official spokesman said.

The state currently has a Forensic Science laboratory at Madhuban in Karnal district.

An approval has been given for the purchase of instruments and equipment for these laboratories as well as other technical specifications to prevent any delays and make them operational at the earliest, the spokesman said.

The Chief Minister has also given his approval of funds worth Rs 2.83 crore for the purchase of modern equipment for the police force during the financial year 2015—16.

The same has been approved by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for Modernisation of State Police Forces (MPF) Plan 2014-15, he said.

The spokesman noted that for the first time online applications have been received for police recruitment. “Biometric and bar-code technology would be adopted to put a complete check on impersonation,” he said. - PTI
