The president of the Goa unit of Congress Girish Chodankar on Saturday wrote to President of India requesting enhanced security for Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
This comes a day after an audio of an alleged phone conversation between Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and an unknown person, went viral.
Mr. Chodankar said the audio has Mr. Rane saying the Chief Minister, at a recent meeting at his residence, told his Cabinet colleagues that the files of the Rafale deal were in his bedroom.
“The Congress apprehends attempts on life of Chief Minister may be made to obtain the files from those who want that the actual details of Rafale deal should not come in public domain as the corruption in deal will be proved(sic). Also certain prominent persons in the government are talking in hushed tones of a “Maha-thag” who is seeking to control every thing,” said the letter.
The letter, copies of which have been marked to the Chief Secretary and State Director-General of Police says, “Chief Minister Parrikar needs to be given space for his revelations to the country as the Rafale files which he possesses will speak the truth.”
It further adds, “Surely, the security and defence of the country cannot be allowed to be compromised in bedrooms and as such a foolproof security cover and protection to the Chief Minister is the need of the hour.”
