Besides, the State government also announced to give compensation of Rs. 2 lakh to the kin of farmer/labourer who died of snake-bite.

He said Rs. 2 lakh will be given in case of death, Rs. 20,000 for severe injuries and Rs. 5,000 for treatment of wounds caused due to snake-bites. To claim the compensation for death due to snake-bite, victim’s family has to ensure that post-mortem of the body is conducted under the section 174 of the CrPC, he said.

This decision was taken by the government after receiving a lot of fake claims for compensation, the spokesperson said.
