Dalit man ‘forced to drink urine’ in Punjab

The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission on Friday sought a report from the police over the alleged incident of a Dalit man being beaten and forced to drink urine at Changaliwala village in Sangrur.

Tejinder Kaur, chairperson of the Commission, said that the details about the incident have been sought from Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police.

“The Commission has come to know about the incident through newspapers and had taken suo moto notice of it,” she said in a statement.

The Sangrur Police had booked three residents of Changaliwala village for allegedly forcing the victim to drink urine.
