CRPF jawan killed, another injured in Sukma Maoist ambush

A Jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed and another was grievously wounded when Maoists ambushed a CRPF team in Sukma district of South Chhattisgarh on Sunday night.

“An encounter took place between a team of CRPF’s 217 battalion posted in Maraiguda village of Sukma and the Maoists on Sunday night. CRPF constable Ashok Kumar Jat died during the encounter and one more CRPF constable was injured,” informed Mr.Santosh Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), operations, Sukma district.

According to Mr.Dinesh Pratap Upadhyay, the Deputy Inspector General of the CRPF, Dantewada range, the CRPF team from Maraiguda had gone out when they received some information that Maoists were cutting a nearby road.

“It was a false information,” claimed Mr.Singh.

Constable Ashok Kumar Jat died when hit by a bullet in his chest. The injured constable suffered a bullet injury in his leg and has been admitted to a hospital in Bhadrachalam town of Telangana.
