Congress posers to Khattar govt. on one-year rule

October 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - CHANDIGARH:

The Congress is preparing a “question paper” for the Haryana government on its performance in the state as BJP completes one year of its rule next week with the Manohar Lal Khattar-led dispensation planning to launch a publicity blitzkrieg to mark the occasion.

With the first-ever BJP government in Haryana’s nearly 50-year history planning to celebrate the occasion with pomp and show, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday said that a “question paper” assessing its performance in the state was being prepared.

Notably, the Khattar government has planned a publicity blitzkrieg that includes organising public functions in all districts between October 21 to November 1.

Mr Khattar would address a press conference here on Tuesday to formally start the programme. A book highlighting the achievements of the BJP government during the past one year is also slated to be released on the occasion.

Mr Hooda said the questions which will be raised in this paper will mostly pertain to the promises made by the BJP in its manifesto before the Assembly polls last year.

“The BJP had made 154 promises to the people and this question paper is being prepared from these only,” the senior Congress leader said, adding that the document will be released any time after October 26.

In a statement here, Mr Hooda accused the Khattar government of failing to deliver on the “tall promises” it had made to the people before the Assembly polls.

Mr Khattar and other Cabinet ministers of the state will be chief guests at the public functions to be organised in various districts during this period.

In this regard, a written communication was recently issued from the office of Chief Secretary to all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, an official spokesperson said.

Mr Khattar is scheduled to be the chief guest in the public functions to be organised in Narnaul on October 21, in Kaithal on October 24 and in Sirsa on October 25.

Similarly other ministers in the Khattar Cabinet will be chief guests in other public functions to be organised at Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Palwal, Rewari and other districts.

A video CD has been prepared in which achievements of the Khattar government during the past one year have been highlighted.

The video clip potrays Mr Khattar as a honest man with a clean image, who is showing zero tolerance towards corruption.

It also speaks about the commitment of BJP government to take Haryana to new heights of development, besides it also touches upon various initiatives of the government including Centre’s flagship Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, which was launched from Panipat in Haryana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January this year. - PTI
