The Uttar Pradesh police swung into action on Monday morning when a phone call alerted them that there was a bomb on board Puri-bound Kalinga-Utkal Express. The train was stopped at Tapri station between Roorkee and Saharanpur. After a thorough check that lasted for around two hours, nothing, except for an unidentified bag, could be found. The police declared it a hoax call.

According to the Government Railway Police sources, a person named Jacob from Jhansi has been detained. He allegedly boarded the AC coach on a general ticket. When the ticket inspector came for inspection, he allegedly panicked and declared that he saw somebody planting a bomb on the train.

The police called the anti-bomb squad and sniffer dogs for a thorough check. As a result, the train got delayed by three hours.
