Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi on Saturday declared a village along the Assam-Arunachal border as ‘Artist village’, as majority of the villagers are artisans and earn their living by selling home made products.

Tani Happa village in Papum Pare district with a population of about 1,000 is known for making exotic tribal beads (used in necklaces) and supply the products to the entire State.

Mr. Negi, accompanied by the Tourism Secretary and a host of officials, visited the village and interacted with the people.

The Chief Secretary also asked Likha Maj, chairman of Arunachal Pradesh State Rubber Board (APSRB) who owns a rubber plantation and a nursery near the village to open a cafeteria so that the tourists could relish. . PTI
