Another PDP leader Mir quits party

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received yet another setback as its senior leader and former minister Javaid Mustafa Mir resigned from the party on Sunday.

Mr. Mir served as a Revenue Minister in the Mehbooba Mufti's Cabinet but was dropped from the council of ministers later. He is likely to join Congress. He has joined a list of prominent faces who quit the PDP since the PDP-BJP government fell in Jammu and Kashmir in June last year.

Among those who quit included former minister Syed Basharat Bukhari, Haseen Drabu and Imran Ansari. Two MLCs, Yasir Reshi and Saifuddin Bhat, also distanced themselves from the party. MLA Abbas Wani also left the party.
