Tremor of 4.4 on Richter scale hits Patan in Gujarat

A tremor measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale today hit Patan district in North Gujarat, officials said.

“An earthquake was experienced between 8:39 to 8:45 am close to Verana village in Patan,” District Collector Patan A G Hingrajia told PTI.

According to a senior scientist at the Institute of Seismological Research, the epicentre of the earthquake was 30 kilometre North East of Radhanpur taluka in the district.

It was at a latitude of 23.849 and longitude of 71.915, he said.

No damage or casualty has been reported so far.

Officials are camping in Verana village where the tremor was felt by locals, Mr. Hingrajia said.
