The Goa police on Monday picked up second Syrian national, who allegedly overstayed in India. He was picked up from an offshore casino off Panaji, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

Around a week ago, a Syrian national Mussa Alareef, a student, had been booked by the north Goa police for overstaying. Police and intelligence agencies are questioning him. The police were informed about the Syrian national’s presence in Goa by the Central intelligence agencies.

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, however, denied any possible terror link to the detention.

Two more in custody

PTI reports:

Two more foreigners — from Yemen and Nigeria — were taken into custody from a Goa casino on Monday night and are being interrogated separately, said a police official, adding they were staying in the State after expiry of visas.
