President Pratibha Patil will visit forward areas of the Line of Control (LoC) in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on October 9 to assess the overall situation along the Indo-Pak border and boost the morale of security forces.
Patil would be visiting forward areas along LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts, interact with troops and get a briefing from the field commanders on the overall security situation along the boderline during a daylong visit on October 9, an army officer said.
She would be recieved by the General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern command, Lt Gen B S Jaswal at Technical Airport at Jammu on the morning of nine.
She will also take stock of the border fencing work and anti-infiltration measures taken in the forward areas besides interacting with troops on the forward posts, he said, adding that arms and explosives recovered from militants in the area will also be shown to her.
She would be briefed by the GOC-in-Chief and other Field Commanders in both Rajouri and Poonch sectors over the security situation, cross-border firing, status of infiltration, ceasefire violations and counter-insurgency operations in the twin border districts.
