The Orissa Vigilance department would include more districts within the ambit of its probe into the alleged scam in purchase of dal for mid-day meal (MDM) scheme and Supplementary Nutritional Programme (SNP).

“The Vigilance wing will conduct inquiry in more districts into alleged dal scam,” Director General of Police (Vigilance) Anup Kumar Patnaik said.

While the anti-corruption Vigilance department had already made inquiry in four districts of Ganjam, Jajpur, Balasore and Mayurbhanj and filed cases against against 25 persons, the inquiry had started in Sambalpur district.

Cases were filed, among others, against suppliers and some officers and they would be charge-sheeted soon, he said.

“We will file charge-sheet against the persons involved in this case very soon”, Mr. Patnaik said.

The DG (Vigilance) was here to attend a symposium on “prevention of corruption vis-à-vis Right to Information” organised at Lingaraj Law College.

It may be recalled that Opposition political parties had demanded an inquiry into the alleged multi-crore dal scam in the entire State.
