Maoists blew up a store room of the irrigation department at Sonua in Jharkhand’s extremist-hit West Singhbhum district on Diwali night, a police officer said.

None was injured in the blast as the store room had been abandoned about eight years ago, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha said.

Construction materials like cement used during the construction of Pansuwan Dam in the area was kept in the store room, Mr. Jha said.

A combing operation has been launched in the area to flush out the ultras, he said.
