MK's outburst against EC out of frustration: Sushma

April 11, 2011 12:13 am | Updated 12:13 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's outburst against Election Commission is out of frustration as his plans to win the elections using money power was spoiled, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj has said.

Praise for election authority

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Ms. Sushma said the election authorities are doing an excellent job in preventing use of money power to win elections. To a query about Mr Karunanidhi's criticism against EC, she said “the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had planned to win the elections using money power. However, the election officials have spoiled his plans and so he is criticising the Commission.”

While the election authorities have been quite successful in preventing distribution of cash and other goods, she said their counterparts in Puducherry have failed to stop misuse of money power.
