The Madhya Pradesh High Court has denied the allegation that the Chief Justice had denied an appointment to the judicial officer who has alleged sexual harassment by a High Court Judge.

In a statement, the Registrar-General of the court, Ved Prakash, said the officer, who was posted as Additional District Judge, Gwalior, had sought an appointment over the phone through the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Justice. But since she had already tendered her resignation and it had been forwarded to the State government for further action, she was advised to make a formal representation for an appointment. She had not made any representation so far, he said.

Mr. Prakash clarified that the officer made two representations seeking cancellation of her transfer to Sidhi citing education of her daughter. The representations had been duly considered and rejected by the administrative committee concerned of the High Court. “She has not represented about the alleged misbehaviour or harassment caused to her by anyone,” he said.

The Registrar-General also noted that the High Court Judge had faxed a confidential letter to the High Court Justice, which was received on Monday morning.

A copy of the letter has been forwarded to the Chief Justice with comments, he said.
