A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant, Abu Surag, from Pakistan, was killed in an encounter in Bandipora in Kashmir on Tuesday.
A police official said a militant opened fire at a search party during a cordon and search operation in Parray Mohalla in Hajin area, Bandipora district. One soldier, Naik Pramood Kumar, of the Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles sustained injuries in the attack and was evacuated to a hospital.
Another militant reportedly escaped the cordon.
