A series of murders in Rajkot, committed in the pre-dawn hours in a similar fashion, has flummoxed the police, who are now looking for the “serial killer” who allegedly killed three persons in the last three months.
Sagar Mevada, 30, was found murdered with his head smashed with stones on April 4, while 50-year-old Pravin Barad, a rickshaw driver, was found with head injuries on May 23. On June 6, a businessman was bludgeoned to death on a road.
“All three murders seem to have been committed in the early hours, between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. and all were killed with stones. It seems to be the handiwork of one person,” said a police official from Rajkot.
Sketch prepared
The police have prepared a sketch of the suspected killer and questioned over 1,200 people. Those questioned include homosexuals and bisexuals because the police believe that the suspect killer is “probably a homosexual.”
“We are not ruling out the possibility of the suspect being mentally challenged,” the police official said.
Now, Ahmedabad crime branch has also joined in the manhunt to aid Rajkot police in nabbing the culprit, who has become a serial killer.
“Our teams are on the job to nab stone killer. We have been questioning suspects not only in Rajkot but also in neighbouring towns and in peripheral villages,” the police official added.
