Eight swine flu deaths in Haryana so far

Haryana Health Minister Geeta Bhukkal said on Friday that 209 swine flu patients are on home quarantine while four patients are admitted to various hospitals in the State.

Confirming that eight deaths had been reported so far in Haryana due to H1N1 influenza, she said a close vigil was being kept on patients with symptoms of swine flu and surveillance activities had been intensified..

She asserted that there was no need for panic as the district units of the State Health Department were ready for a quick response in identification, testing, isolation and treatment of cases. “However, the people should follow all preventive measures to check the spread of this disease,” she added.

She said the Health Department was making all efforts to combat the flu and had opened helplines for the convenience of the people. Any information concerning swine flu could be obtained by dialling 09417931024 (Dr. Aparajita), 09878229100 (Dr. Bindiya Udit Jain) or 09463325842 (Dr. Rajiv Mehta). She said that Tami Flu medicine and personal protective kits had been made available to all district units.
