The Congress on Tuesday said they will go alone in the next Assembly elections in Bihar even as both the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) have expressed their desire to partner the Congress.

“Saying that they are partnering with the Congress, they are misleading people. It is nothing but wishful thinking of the RJD chief Sheila Dikshit and his LJP counterpart Ramvilas Paswan,” State Congress chief Anil Sharma said.

The Congress has immensely gained in terms of vote share in the Assembly polls and does not need to enter into an alliance for the next polls, Mr. Sharma said.

“We are, however, happy to note that both the RJD and LJP have realised the importance of the Congress,” he said.

In the by-polls to 18 assembly seats in the state, Congress won two seats—Simri Bakhtiarpur and Chenari—while the LJP-RJD combine won nine seats, with the BSP and an independent candidate sharing one each.
