Three days after he allegedly shot and killed teenager Aditya Sachdev for overtaking him, Rocky Yadav, son of Janata Dal (United) legislator, Manorama Devi, was arrested early on Tuesday.

“The main accused in Aditya Sachdeva murder case Rocky Yadav has been arrested from an area near his father Bindi Yadav’s cement plant in Bodh Gaya. He has been arrested with the weapon used in the crime,” Garima Mallik, SSP, Gaya, told journalists.

JD(U), meanwhile, has suspended Ms. Devi from the party for possessing liquor. Police had raided her residence on Monday.

Rocky denies road rage shooting

Rocky Yadav, son of a JD(U) MLC, who was arrested early on Tuesday night for allegedly shooting a teenager for overtaking his car, denied that he was involved in the incident.

“I did not fire the shot... I was in Delhi and when my mother called me, I came here and presented myself before the SSP. I’ll tell everything in the court,” he said when produced before journalists.

Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alia Rocky was sent to two weeks judicial custody.

Meanwhile, The Hindu has learnt Bihar MLC Manorama Devi led the police to Rocky Yadav’s hideout following intense police pressure.

Police had raided her residence on Monday night and allegedly threatened to take her into custody if her son did not surrender immediately.

They also found liquor bottles at her residence, leading to her suspension from the JD(U).

According to reliable sources, when Ms Manorama Devi contacted her lawyers during the raid, she was advised to produce Rocky Yadav. The legislator then drove from her home in a black Santro, followed by the police, to the house where her son has been hiding for the last three days.

Distraught parents

Meanwhile, Chand Sachdeva, mother of Aditya Sachdeva, demanded “a speedy trial in the case and such punishment from the court that none would dare to commit such a crime in future”.

“He (Rocky Yadav) must be hanged for what he has committed,” said a distraught Ms Sachdeva.

Her husband, Shyam Sunder Sachdeva, asked how Manorama Devi remained a JD(U) MLC even three days after the shooting incident.

“Why she has not yet been expelled from the party?...nothing will happen...they will contest the case in court and get free,” he said.

However, ADGP Sunil Kumar told the mediapersons that “Police would complete its investigation in three weeks and a charge sheet in the case will be filed within a month…a speedy trial will be done.”
