Bastar tense on eve of Dandakaranya bandh

The Bastar region of Chhattisgarh remained on the edge on Friday as intensified Maoist activity was witnessed in many districts on the eve of Maoist bandh on Saturday.

The Danda Karanya Special Zonal Committee of the CPI (Maoist) has called for “Dandakaranya bandh” on November 8 against the Narendra Modi government’s “fascist policies.”

Maoists torched three vehicles in the Nerli Ghati area of Dantewada district on Friday evening and opened fire on the police parties, said Bastar Range Inspector-General of Police, S.R.P. Kalluri. There was no report of casualty on any side.Two police constables were injured in Sukma district by spikes put on a road.
